Dear Rick,
On behalf of the Behavioral Health Board, I would like to commend you on the outstanding job you have been doing for the Department. You are an outstanding leader and role model for the youth of our County. There is no better example of your efforts than at the recent Youth Conference at Richardson Springs where your welcoming address was well received by all the attendees. Most impressive was your ability to set clear outcomes for the students while gently and firmly defining very clear expectations about following all the rules and even giving examples. Your use of humor and your gentle nature had the audience in your hand.
Judging from all the comments I personally heard from students who attended, the participants felt safe, cared for and learned a great deal. I know they learned many skills they were able to apply immediately and on top of all that, they had fun. All participants I spoke to want to attend the next conference and many came away with new friends from other communities. What a wonderful experience for so many.
We, on the Board, are pleased to know that the Department has employees like you who do remarkable jobs to encourage and educate the youth of our area. You can feel proud to know that you have influenced so many lives and be assured that words you have spoken to teenagers will continue to be remembered and contemplated for the rest of their lives.
